The dish was invented in 1892 or 1893 by the French chef Auguste Escoffier at the Savoy Hotel, London, to honour the Australian soprano Nellie Melba.
I believe she once commented that the desert would be remembered longer than herself.

beste barkihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15002530133068046229noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6401528799218373095.post-74744209961378488402015-10-04T07:36:57.622+01:002015-10-04T07:36:57.622+01:00@ Deborah - it was the artist I was interested in ...@ Deborah - it was the artist I was interested in ... because I already love the dish. A tricolore salad in a good Italian restaurant is usually so much better than elsewhere (Turkish for example).
However, I have not eaten red meat for forty years although I do enjoy fish and poultry. The nearest to this dish I have had was a plate of three types of raw fish thinly sliced and soaked in lime juice which was exquisite!
CLICK HERE for Bazza’s fabulous Blog ‘To Discover Ice’bazzahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14794010156639774028noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6401528799218373095.post-16808717583080433752015-10-03T14:10:37.247+01:002015-10-03T14:10:37.247+01:00I'd never heard of the dish or the artist, so ...I'd never heard of the dish or the artist, so I'm leaving with two new interesting bits of info today.
