Sue of Elephant's Child recently sadly departed … if anyone would like to see and hear the simple Service, particularly the words for her, I give the link below.
Dinah and her husband from NZ had been over to Australia a few years ago and were able to meet up with Sue and Graham in Canberra – hence their close connection.
Dinah has recently moved but was able to keep some of us in touch with the news re Sue … I seemed to be on that short list: which makes me feel very honoured.
I hope to get back to regular blogging shortly … so this is an interim post for us all to remember Sue – her posts were always full of light and positivity …

Hi, Hilary: Thanks for this sensitive, heartfelt tribute to our dear friend, Sue, especially for the link to the funeral service. I hope that others will take the time to watch it. Considering that we never met her in the flesh, she became a very important link in the lives of all of us who cherished her kindness, wit, humanity and goodness. We corresponded quite frequently away from blog comments and from time to time she would send me a card, often with a few bookmarks, always instructing me to share them with Miriam. I don’t have many regrets in life, and don’t dwell on missed opportunities, but I deeply regret not having made the time to go to Canberra last time I was in Australia. We were with another couple and our schedule did not really permit the time to make a four hour detour to satisfy my whim. Little did I know that would be the last chance to give Sue a real hug instead of the virtual ones I sent so often. She will live with me in memory forever. Hugs for you - David

Sadly I didn't know her, but after 20+ years of blogging, I have seen many pass.

ReplyDeleteHillary, thank you for sharing this. I just learned of Sue's death from reading Alex's IWSG post. It was like a kick in the gut. I kept going back to her blog to see if she was updating news of her treatments and progress. We've been blogging friends for a long time. She had such a good heart, and whenever I see a kangaroo, I think of her and her "roo" therapy. 🦘 I really admired her work with the suicide hotline. It's such a lifeline for those who are struggling. I will watch the video of her service after IWSG Day. Thank you! ❤️

My last email exchange with Sue was so beautiful and hopeful. I'm deeply saddened. She was one of the bright stars and a long-time friend who read, loved nature, and life. I will miss her terribly. Thank you for this beautiful tribute, Hilary.
