In choosing Theresa May to be Prime Minister - we seem to have selected a great steadier of the ship - there is no Opposition to consider - Labour are in a terrible state.

Thankfully ... I hope all will come to their senses and be sensible about our country's decision - though frankly people in responsible positions shouldn't be part of a slanging match or participate in one. Let's hope all will be well for our little country ...

@ Jeffrey - no worries ... many were surprised by the vote - and many didn't vote intelligently ... in other words they had no idea what they voted for ... they thought you can just push a switch and we're out (then get more money, more jobs, etc etc) ... without taking into account any of the rules and regulations, trade deals etc etc .. that will need to be re-written etc ...

Immigration was a big challenge (but not understood - as people's status varied) ... essentially it is to get us out of the European Union ... but there's so many variants that need to be considered ...

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/uk-migration-six-myths-about-immigration-debunked-as-latest-figures-show-fall-in-non-eu-arrivals-a6895341.html

The Prime Minister today has said they will get the numbers down ...

I came across this post ... which may help a little ...

http://www.euractiv.com/section/euro-finance/opinion/decision-making-and-disarray-in-the-eu/

The EU should have reformed in recent years and then we wouldn't have left - but as our female Prime Minister - rightly says ... Brexit won and therefore that what's we as a country shall do ... it's going to cost a lot changing everything ... but let's hope we get some sensible leaders to 'talk' to (negotiate with) to get the necessary changes through ...

Article 50 is the 'switch' ... and once that's done - then we have two years to finalise everything ... but Article 50 is in the future at the moment ...

All I can say is thank goodness we have government, who understands the ramifications ...

It's interesting that Theresa May, our new Prime Minister, has put all the Brexit MPs in charge of the Brexit parliamentary offices ...

Yes we do have differences to the EU ... but other countries hold different policies too ... and we are not attached to the mainland ... but what happens re Gibraltar, Malta, Ireland and Northern Ireland and Scotland ... interesting times ahead ... let alone all our nationals overseas in Europe, or European nationals here ...

I'm not sure if this has answered your queries sufficiently - we (you) need a degree!

Cheers to you both - thanks for your thoughts - it's interesting, but quite difficult to explain - even if I'm opposite that view! I...Sorry it's taken me awhile to get over here. I have to say, I was kind of surprised by the vote. Though, to be honest, I was not very certain what all the reasoning behind Brexit was. Unfortunately, here in the states we are never given much info. I have to get my intel from listening to the Beeb online. My final though was it revolved around England wanted to control it's own borders without EU intervention. But I'm sure more was involved. Again, perhaps it wasn't such a shocking vote. After all, England was the only EU member with it's own currency. Am I correct in this?
Hope you are all settled. It's been a crazy couple months in the world, eh? I understand the vote and why it went the way it did.
