Sue of Elephant's Child recently sadly departed … if anyone would like to see and hear the simple Service, particularly the words for her, I give the link below.
Dinah and her husband from NZ had been over to Australia a few years ago and were able to meet up with Sue and Graham in Canberra – hence their close connection.
Dinah has recently moved but was able to keep some of us in touch with the news re Sue … I seemed to be on that short list: which makes me feel very honoured.
I hope to get back to regular blogging shortly … so this is an interim post for us all to remember Sue – her posts were always full of light and positivity …
... this week we've had a few rainbows … when I immediately think of Sue as I look and admire nature in the sky …
So below is the link to her Service – which will be up and available for six+ months - while I've also linked to two January posts … her last birthday posts, but it features some of her favourites …
Himself's lap with cats settled in …
'Roos … a roo fix happened …
Murals … in which most featured birds can be found in her city …
her birthday weekend post with real birds: Eastern Rosellas and Sulphur Crested Cockatoos … she was a Capricorn, as I am …
... and lots of yellow … the sun lets us live, while for Sue she loved the cold … when she featured her frozen bubbles, to which I've also linked ... with her thoughts ...
... she offers us lots … including 'zombie brains' – courtesy of a bubble or two: appropriate as a thought at this time of year … and also as it's winter – her inner child felt happy and healthy … a few years ago.
Bless you Sue – it's been a pleasure knowing you, and I will remember your Elephant's Child blog … where you encouraged us with humility to stay young, to stay curious, not moan ... but help the next generation towards peace for all.

Narcissi - starting to bloom

Norwood Park, Canberra - for Sue's service of remembrance ...
Her birthday weekend 2025 January post ...
The next week's Sunday Selections post, before she took time off for her health ...
One of her bubbles' posts in July 2018 ...
Finally ... Sue's posts are entertaining to read, while she also has lots of books to recommend ... so it'll be worthwhile popping over occasionally, as we remember ... enjoy them!!
Thank you too particularly to Graham, Sue's partner, and to Dinah and her husband their friends in New Zealand ... for keeping us in touch ...

Oh, I am so sorry the world has lost such a treasure. Loved her blog posts, so appreciative and curious of the world around her and sharing that with us. How many from around the world did she touch? Im from Georgia, USA. ❤️ I am just one of them.
Very nice that you wrote such a lovely post and included links. She was a fun blogger.
Another fine tribute, Hilary.
And yes: The funeral speakers found fitting words for a dignified farewell of a wonderful human being.
Sorry to hear about your friend...
I was so sorry to hear of her passing.
The Crimson Rosella, standing at attention in Sue's honour, is very handsome.
I remember Sue from the WEP challenges, and thought she was a lovely person. So sad to lose someone we've connected with online over the years. This is a beautiful tribute, Hilary, and it's wonderul that you are keeping her memory alive in this way. 🌹
@ Kay - yes ... I too loved her blog posts - it seems she touched many of us from so many countries ... she was an inspiration, that's for sure ... and good to know you were one from Georgia ...
@ Joanne - thanks ... I wanted to tie up a few loose ends ... and yes she was a fun blogger ...
@ Sean - many thanks, good to see you. I saw you'd visited and listened to the Service ... short and very valuable ...
@ John - good to see you here ...
@ Liz - she certainly will be missed ...
@ Hels - she loved her birds ...
@ Debbie - yes she did join in the WEP challenges ... they were fun, but understand all things come to an end ... as has happened for Sue. I just wanted to let everyone know about the Service, while acknowledging the love and curiosity she brought to our online world.
Thanks everyone for visiting ... we are short of one member, but one who will be remembered for many a year ... cheers to you and yours - Hilary
Hi, Hilary: Thanks for this sensitive, heartfelt tribute to our dear friend, Sue, especially for the link to the funeral service. I hope that others will take the time to watch it. Considering that we never met her in the flesh, she became a very important link in the lives of all of us who cherished her kindness, wit, humanity and goodness. We corresponded quite frequently away from blog comments and from time to time she would send me a card, often with a few bookmarks, always instructing me to share them with Miriam. I don’t have many regrets in life, and don’t dwell on missed opportunities, but I deeply regret not having made the time to go to Canberra last time I was in Australia. We were with another couple and our schedule did not really permit the time to make a four hour detour to satisfy my whim. Little did I know that would be the last chance to give Sue a real hug instead of the virtual ones I sent so often. She will live with me in memory forever. Hugs for you - David
So going to miss her. River was nice enough to contact me. Sue always posted such beautiful images on Sunday and I am so missing that now.
It just hits a little different when we lose a blogging friend we knew was so good of heart. Thank you for sharing her favorites and her service link. May she rest in peace.
It is sad to lose a friend, even one we have not met in person. Sue clearly touched many people's lives and will be greatly missed.
@ David – I know … it'd be great to have had time to meet up with blogging friends – but as Sue said … how'd we know how addictive it is … and how we'd 'meet' so many we'd relate to and would really like to spend some time with.
I forgot to mention the cards and fridge magnets … she was generous to her friends in the blogging world … I was fortunate to have a few.
I'm glad the links are helpful … and as you say – I'm sure many of us will remember Sue for years to come … and yes – hugs back …
@ Alex – aren't we all going to miss her, as you say. I knew others were contacting you, and as I don't have a direct email any more … I left it to others and for the word to get out. As you say Sundays will forever more be different for those of us who enjoyed her Sunday Selections …
@ Rosey – good to see you here … I agree – we knew them, yet had never met … but they impact us. I'm glad you appreciate the links and as you say may she be resting in peace …
@ Janice – yes … she'll definitely be missed by many …
Cheers to you four – may she rest in peace and my thoughts to her family and friends - Hilary
Sadly I didn't know her, but after 20+ years of blogging, I have seen many pass.
I will miss her and all the bird photos she certainly had a presence on line and will be missed. She always left kind comments on my blog.
@ Diane - yes ... you've been around longer than I have and I'm not sure when I met Sue. I realise many of us pass on from this world ... time calls time ...
@ Truedessa - I know many of us will miss her and her birds ... she did as you say have a presence on line and was always kind and thoughtful.
Thanks you two for being here - cheers Hilary
A lovely tribute to Sue. I've come across her kind comments to bloggers across my feed. She sounds like such a special lady who will be missed.
