I still can't quite believe … 2026 … where did that come from … I was only seven 'a few years ago'!!
Still onward and upwards … 2025's health challenges have to be put back in their place in 2026 … somehow – we shall see … life continues and is interesting – albeit quieter as the years tick by … thankfully 'you encouraging lot' are here … cheering me/ us all on …
An 1880s
New Year salutation
Gerrard Winstanley's quote from 1649 seemed to ring rather too true today – from nearly five hundred years ago …
"Was the earth made
to preserve a few
covetous, proud
men to live at ease;
or was it made to
preserve all her
children?”
Gerrard Winstanley (1609 – 1676) – Political Philosopher amongst his other talents and ideals … I call upon us all to ...
Think,
read, and seriously ponder between the lines,
concentrate on the quieter words,
no need for division … I like marmite – I know many don't – but I'll be happy for you with your vegemite!!
2025 was not the easiest of years for most people in this world … 2026 doesn't portend well …
Let's do all we can to help others in all ways … so many far worse off than we are … 'doing good does us good' …

Hear! Hear! I wish you lots of ease in 2026, Hilary, that health stabilises, outings uplift, readings edify, researches satisfy... and that there is a good dollop of joy along the way! YAM xx
Happy New Year! I'm sure we'll muddle through 2026 somehow...
Doing good does do us good as well. Here to wish you a happy and healthy new year!
Thanks for this wonderfully insightful comment, Hilary. I know that 2025 was not your best year and I can only hope that 2026 is much better. If there is one certainty that you can count on, it is that your blogging friends will be here to support and encourage in any way that we can. With my best wishes always - David xo
That quote is so profound. We've come full circle. Happy 2026, Hils. May it be a good year.
I like that quote. We really haven’t given it a final answer in hundreds of years, have we, even though to most people the correct answer is obvious. As for thinking you were 7 a few years ago, I’m the same. I can never quite believe they’ve let me leave school and function as an adult. Hope your heath improves in 2026 and that it’s a good year in all other ways too.
