Tuesday's Child ...

Odd - today is a Tuesday … and thus all those many years ago … a child who is full of grace was born …!?!?!?

Monday's Child lyrics - as published
in St Nicholas Magazine (1873)

Monday's child is fair of face,
Tuesday's child is full of grace.
Wednesday's child is full of woe,
Thursday's child has far to go.
Friday's child is loving and giving,
Saturday's child works hard for a living.
But the child that is born on Sabbath day,
Is bonny and blithe, good and gay.

**

'Twas on a Tuesday morning

The gas man came again …

the gas men never stop …

they'll be around for a while -

... on, on and on ...!!

Daffodils and Narcissi

I just hope 2026 gets my health sorted out … or at least eases – everyday it's a nuisance.

I note that Damyanti (Damyantiwrites.com) is still a week ahead of me … I just hope she won't give up her blog …

I give up … I can't count – but think I'm going into my 18th year of blogging – a bit of a shock to me … but my blogging mojo has returned …

Champers all round - around here!!

Busting out the champers ...
Thanks everyone for being here – I really enjoy the interaction with you all … here's to more ...

Damyanti's blog – latest post …

I always thought the advertising for champagne in long slim glasses exaggerated its connection to celebrations. Now in old age I love it. So I am raising a glass to good health, peace and our interaction for ages to come :)

I don’t have Champagne, Hilary, but I have a very fine Pinot Noir and I will raise a toast to you. I will plead with anyone in the ether who cares to listen to restore good health to you in 2026. And early too! I am glad that your blogging mojo has returned. We can’t do it nearly as well without you. Very best wishes - David

Happy birthday, Hilary, from one Tuesday's child to another.
I do hope your health issues will be properly resolved this year - it's tiring being under par all the time.
Meanswhile, Cheers!

@ Hels - thanks for the good health glass ...

@ Yam - thank you ... birthday and blog anniversary together works well ... both on the same day!!

@ David - oh what a pity a breakfast glass of champers sounds good - yet that'd finish me off for the day. Enjoy your Pinot Noir and I'll join you in a toast later on today! I too wish myself good health - looks like self-help will be the order of the day ... something I need, but not particularly looking forward to. Yes - the blogging mojo is being thought about - that's for sure ... and I enjoy the blog life.

@ Alex - yay: Damy and I are a year ahead of you - amazing. I agree may we all continue for many years ...

@ Janice - thanks so much ... are you also a Tuesday's child ... thank goodness we're full of grace?!!? Yes - it's very tiring being stressed all the time with the anxiety of my health ... I sincerely hope we can work it out. But for now - exactly ... cheers!!

Thanks you five - great to see you ... cheered me up - from a gloomy, damp day in Eastbourne - cheers Hilary

It's whisky-o-clock in one hour and 30 minutes time. I'll be raising my chrystal glass to you! Things can only get better for you Hilary. I've been very under the weather since Christmas, what I would have done without my blog and fellow bloggers to raise my spirits I can't imagine!

I am also a Tuesday’s child. For many years I interpreted it as physical grace which is definitely not me, but now I choose to think of it as being gracious, which I hope I am. Well, some of the time …

I like you am rooting for Damyanti to continue. She has a common sense voice I appreciate on the internet.

@ Keith - that's good to know you're having a tipple (perhaps with Rosie??) and raising your glass to my anniversaries. I so agree with you re blogging ... the commenters certainly raise my spirits too.

@ Anabel - another Tuesday's child ... I think I'd choose it like you as being gracious and thoughtful about others in life ... well most of the time!!

@ Debbie - thanks ... and I certainly hope 2026 will be easier - 2025's been a pain! Here's to health ...

@ Jacqui - I know I'm sure she'll keep on blogging, if only once a month like Alex does ... she writes so well - and has a huge amount of common sense and knowledge about the writerly world.

Cheers to the four of you - and thanks for visiting - Hilary

Happy Birthday, my dear! I'm pleased your blogging mojo has returned. I was born on a Monday. I don't think I'm particularly fair of face at almost 67 years old. I hope grace pushes out the bad health issues.

Love,
Janie

@ Diane - thanks so much ... I too hope I'm feeling easier later this year - it'll make a change. I know poor Nigel has been suffering - thankfully I don't have bronchitis. Enjoy the time away ... time to recover for you both ... great to see you ...

@ Liz - thanks - Saturday's girl ... yes the day's always seem to change don't they ...

@ Janie - thank you - I'm somewhat older ... but am taking on Anabel's idea of being gracious (most of the time - I am usually)!! I sincerely hope the grace pushes out those bad health vibes in 2026 ...

@ Diane - I remember you started blogging way before most of us ... ah ha - don't we all wish we were nearer 21 ... but c'est la vie - life carries on ...

@ Sandra - oh I sure hope 2026 is kinder that 2025 ...

Cheers and thanks for visiting everyone - Hilary

Sorry to hear about your health Hope things get better for you soon. 18 years Thats a long time and we must have started around the same time I realize now

Hilary Melton-Butcher said...

@ Sandra - yes life toddles on doesn't it - I'm amazed I must say ... especially when I started and hadn't a clue what to specialise in (which it was recommended that I needed to choose) - just glad I never made that choice and wandered off along my own path!! Thanks for your support ...

@ Marja - yes my health is a nuisance - but I hope the NHS and I can resolve it relatively early this year. That's great another of us who started this blogging life all those years ago ...congratulations.

Cheers to you both - and thanks for visiting - Hilary

Birthday and blog cheers. Your posts are full of grace, as I am sure you are in person. (Alas, I am a Wednesday child - full of woe or something...ha!) I keep sending healing thoughts across the pond. Take care and ever onward, my friend.

I checked, and – coincidence: I am a Tuesday child, too. ;-)
With "but" a few days delay: Many happy returns, loveliest of all Hilarys. ;-)

Hilary Melton-Butcher said...

@ Sandra - no health change ... but life goes on ... cheers and hugs always appreciated!

@ Joanne - thanks ... I'm fairly of the choleric genre - which I try and contain! I'm usually thoughtful and aware of what's going on ... so no particularly graceful - but ok!! Yes - my posts have settled me down. Oh dear I was speaking to some other friends who said their husband was also full of woe ... ne-er mind ... I'm full of woe at times - like now!! I'll definitely get things going this year and I hope get most of my health back ... and as you say 'ever onward' ...

@ Sean - oh good another Tuesday's child ... always a few "buts" ... but we need variety in our lives ... it spices life up ...

Good to see the three of you - thanks for being here - cheers Hilary
