"God of Thunder" lives here ...

Today is not a good day .. but I'm sure tomorrow will be better. Janice, our Healer, showed me how to do reflexology on my mother's hand .. so that if she has indigestion I can help counter it. I understand that this is one of the side effects of being PEG fed .. & after 20 months I'm not surprised frankly.

Still despite being uncomfortable .. and while we waited for the carers to come I read her some positive stories and had her laughing a great deal .. she is so wonderful that she has such strength of mind to put adversity, uncomfortableness, etc out of her mind .. & be able to laugh with me.

One of these positive story snippets .. "A reveller returning from a New Year's Eve party, dressed as the Norse god Thor, found a burglar in his house - and frightened the daylights out of him. Torvald Alexander, who was wearing a suit of armour and a winged helmet made from tinfoil, discovered the intruder creeping around his Edinburgh home. "As soon as he saw me his eyes went wide with terror,' says Mr Alexander 'I went mad and charged at him, my (red) cape flying behind me. He hadn't counted on the god of thunder living here'. The burglar jumped out of a first floor window."

You both are amazing for laughing and finding strenght in positive side of your story. The idea of positive story snippets is brilliant; I loved the new one too. :)

Hi Stella .. thanks for that .. & you've sent me off to another thought ..that I should change Hilary's snippets to positive snippets .. except I'll be bringing in Cornish Festivals & other interesting English traditional & cultural topics that have taken our fancy .. over time: but I suppose I can have sub topics ..

It's just so good to be able to give my mother something to laugh about & to keep her interested .. thanks for your support - Hilary

You're welcome...and I'm glad I could spark an idea :) Of course you can have subtopics, we're all interested in more than one thing so it comes naturally.

I believe it is...we cherish those moments the most. That's what makes us feel good anyway...

Hi Stella .. thanks for that .. & it's always interesting to mull things round in our minds .. to see another way forward.

I still have to think of a sign off .. positive moments/ positive snippets .. I'll think about it!

Thanks for replying & taking an interest ..

All the best Hilary - Remember the positives!

Hi Hilary,

I, too, love the idea of the snippets. That was a funny story!

Laughter is surely the best medicine and we can never have too much. Here's an interesting statistic I read awhile back....On average, adults only laugh 4 times a day, whereas a child laughs as much as 160 times! Let's laugh more and have fun! We deserve it! :-)

Many Blessings....
