Fierce Viking Chick – RIP

A Viking Ship has taken our blogging A-Z supremo, Tina Downey, to far-away shores … she will be sorely missed by many … as we are already seeing from the tributes around the blogosphere.

My heart goes out to her family, her parents, her extended family and her local friends …

She will live on … she will inspire us … as she was a live wire, a lady who loved the joie-de-vivre …

Animal prow-head of a Viking Ship

We will remember her – of that I am sure - as an amazing lady.

May we all take a moment to remember her and reflect on the many things she did for us, or the laughs she gave us … I shall miss that Fierce Viking Chick – as she called herself …

So sorry to hear that Hilary - I did not know Tina or her blog, but just had a look and know that I would have loved it and her, too.

This has not been a good year for the blogging community with many being ill or having problems with health (or their partner's health). I was shocked to hear about Tina, who seemed so resilient, but wish her peace on that other side.

Lo there I do see my father,
Lo there I do see my mother,
my sisters and my brothers.
Lo there I do see the line of my people back to the beginning.
Lo, they do call me,
they do bid me to take my place among them
in the Halls of the Valhalla,
where the Brave may live FOREVER!

It's said that no one is really gone if they are remembered with affection. I think there's truth in that.

This was a great tribute to a wonderful lady! I have known Tina since her oldest was a toddler. Tina introduced me to the world of blogging. She was irreverent, but always kind and encouraging. She was a confidant, and a partner in crime.I miss her terribly.

Oh, I am so sorry. You did a wonderful job with this tribute. I know she will be missed very much.

It's funny. We often don't meet the people we visit via blogging, but that doesn't mean we don't get close to them. I know you're feeling sad right now. Take the time you need, Hilary.

I believe wherever Fierce Viking Chick is she'd smile at the words you wrote in this post.

To all of you who have commented - thank you ...
@ Patsy - you said some important words .. "as long you're remembered with affection" we will always return to remember them.
@ Amanda - thanks for coming over to the blog and saying 'hello' - I'll be over to meet you. How lovely that she had you blogging along with her and your strong friendship - you will definitely miss her a great deal.
@ Sara - it's funny how we can tie in with blogging friends and get that rapport and certainly Tina and I had it ..

Thanks for all your lovely comments on and for Tina and her family - Hilary

Hilary, What a lovely tribute. I had heard of the deaths of two people I knew locally, but it was Damyanti's post, which gave me the sad news of Tina's passing, which reduced me to tears.
Tina was, to use a term she made her own, a sweetheart. Sue
