We are the World Blogfest # 54 - Power for the Neighbours ... and where are we going in 2022 …

It's amazing in this day and age – how people go out of their way to help their communities …

Here in Murang'a County, south central Kenya – one man got VERY TIRED OF WAITING – so took 'things into his own hands' …

he found some bicycle parts, scrap metal, built a home made generator – subsequently bringing electricity to his neighbourhood …

Murang'a County
John Magiro expanded his electric operation – thus bringing affordable electricity to 750 local people ...

John Magiro outside his office
… he transformed so many lives – now they don't have to use hand-held kerosene lamps … the kids can study, people can safely move around … and all those benefits those of us have in our day to day lives, they now have ...

Here's to more John Magiro's – People Fixing the World … giving Power to the People …

BBC How to make electricity for your Neighbours (video 2.43)

Magiro Mini Hydro Power - their website ...

At the end of 2021 – what will 2022 hold? …

more peace,

more understanding,

more compassion,

more thought for others, before one's self …

George Cruikshank - see my
previous post ... His view
to the opera - taken by me
as 'our view' to 2022 ...

So with this last post of 2021 – I wish you an easier New Year – here's to 2022 …

John is a uniquely motivated individual. All the credit to him, for linking with his community and improving their lives.

During the endless lockdowns, I thought the same thing about bloggers. By providing long, detailed and fascinating stories to their community, they kept learning alive. And provided great company in the darkest days as well.

Every gesture of kindness and compassion makes this dark time a little brighter, right, Hilary> :-)

You do bring brightness to the world with your blog. Thank you.

I do however fear 2022 a bit - Betty White died at age 99 - a true entertainment icon in the USA (and world?) - a sheer joy and wonderful (Golden Girl) woman. Alas, she passed just weeks before her 100th birthday. We all kinda counted on her living forever and leading us out of darkness. Maybe she'll guide from above.

No matter what - Happy New Year to you. Stay well and healthy. I look forward to 2022 posts.

@ EC - I seem to be hooked into the meme #WATWB - and love writing about so many subjects highlighting exceptional ideas helping others ...

@ Yam - don't we need lots of Magiros - surprisingly there are so many of them out there - and I love noting them here ...

@ Ian - thanks so much ... I too hope for an easier year ...

@ Liza - won't it be wonderful if life improves for us all ...

@ Liz - thanks ... it is amazing, what one person can achieve ...

@ Hels - he used his skills in the most wonderful way ... I so agree - all credit to him - he's also setting examples for others in his community to follow ...

Thanks re the blogging friends ... it's kept me positive and I love passing on that positivity ...

@ Roland - great to see you ... and thank you for that thought ...

@ Joanne - delighted my blog brightens lives.

2022 here has come around with blue skies and some sun - a shock to our system down here in Eastbourne ... it's been so grey and gloomy - so wonderful to have brightness ...

Cheers to you all - and as I just mentioned to Joanne above - we've got bright skies and sun down here - a good omen for 2022 (I sincerely hope) ...

Happy New Year to you all - Hilary
