Blog Sandwich Update 10 … ebb and flow noises, tide time and sea views …

Moved … and got greeted with both these – the view is magnificent - and I now live as described above …

Chalky cliffs at edge of Downs - Beachy Head is just
around that bluff

The move was fine (movers excellent) – it’s the rest that had stressed me out, and is keeping me stressed out … but I, thankfully, mentally turn the tables and say all will be sorted out and life will improve.

It was delicious ...

We’ve had an interesting three weeks … the Queen has just returned to Buckingham Palace to welcome the new Prime Minister … Her Majesty has now seen off twelve other Prime Ministers – some achievement.

I voted “IN” … can’t say I was surprised at the result of ‘LEAVE’ – it was an horrendous campaign … I do hate all the back-stabbing, the uninformed comments, the lies spread about and the bullies that seem to think they can rule the roost – when they can’t discuss their point of view … or won’t understand how the rules of governance work …

One of the interesting by-the-byes ... is that people were happy to say which way they would vote or voted ...

Regardless of what we do - we will still need to comply;

Mind you this could have been my packing ... croissantly
straight to fill the boxes!
I did campaign – much to my surprise … not really in my nature – but I belong to the European Movement – which is an informative body about the EU and how it works … it’s been in existence for 69 years … (our branch in Eastbourne has been around for over 40 years and is the strongest branch outside of London).

Still we’re out now (or will be) – and after all the fall outs, the Parliamentary parties’ voting positions … still ongoing with Labour … I hope people can be civilised letting the country go forward to settle things as quickly as is reasonably possible … it won’t be soon – that I think is the main thing … care and consideration with ideas (and strategy) are the essentials now.

View from flat - sailing towards Beachy Head ...
tanker glinting in the deep water of the
English Channel heading who knows where ...
We need to all set higher standards for ourselves and promote a civilised society – be it at a family, local, town, city, state/county and country level … at whatever role in society we hold … set our sights above normal and encourage others to do the same …

So many unnecessary deaths – why, oh why … how can we get to this in today’s world … we now need our leaders to lead – my thoughts to all who grieve … let us bring peace for each other …

The company I used were professional
and very helpful ...

I welcome the new Prime Minister – she seems to have lots of strengths … many that we can all learn from … here’s to our second female Prime Minister.

Lots of moving vans this week around 10 Downing Street ...

Life seems to have rattled by – taking my mind off other things … but all grist to the mill, and to the character building aspects that I didn’t expect to come across!

The reef ... as the tide ebbs
I’m around – recovering still and dealing with a lot of challenges – but at least BT did their stuff efficiently … a youngster of 19 (by a few days) … turned up – he was clean, well turned out in a boy-scout kind of way … shorts and heavy boots … but he solved the problems and broadband was up and shining blue … good job done.

Ever changing seascape ...

I’ll be over to your blogs … as and when … enjoy your summers – I hope ours will come … still my views keep me happy … and tide time is quite cathartic, while the wave noise keeps other noises at bay!

Oh yes … our new Prime Minister was born in this town … more claim to fame for Eastbourne …

I started this yesterday when rain was on hand ... now it's a glorious day ...

Glad the move went well, even if unpacking is stressful. You live in a beautiful new place.
May your country move forward from here. Peacefully.

All moved in, just need to settle--and what a place to settle. A cuppa tea and that view daily is perfect. I hope the stressful stuff eases soon.

You picked a beautiful place to move to.

Stepping out of the Union might work out after all. There's no other choice now anyway.

Are you talking about Brexit or the American presidential campaign? Could be either by the sound of it, except that we still have over 4 months to live with it. :(

Still, what a beautiful and peaceful seeming place to live! I am sure it makes all the stress of moving worthwhile.

@ Holly - moved in - settling on its way ... and yes it is lovely to just stop for a while and take stock ... I too hope the stressful stuff eases soon ...

@ Diane - yes I couldn't resist the view - the rest is questionable .. but the view helps! Brexit is interesting ... so many changes happening ...

@ Dianne - Both!!!!! Way too many 'sound bites' ... which are totally unhelpful in understanding the full picture ... we do need to think beyond reading a few words ...

Great comment - thank you ... I'll be loving the view - though there will be hassles there ... but that's another story ..

@ Mason - thanks - I'm settling slowly ... it'll be easy anon (not sure when the anon will get sorted) ...

@ Paula - the view helps ... the flat itself has some challenges - but life does move forward ...

Great to be back blogging again ... cheers to you all - Hilary

I wish your new Prime Minister all the best too. We all must stay friends and sort things out as you say. I'm sure she'll get support from the USA - we count on it.

Take care and let's muddle along together. Now take a break and have a cup of tea. You deserve it

A Welcome return to the sphere of blogging and goodness you have been so missed Hilary.
I do hope that the leaky bay has now been sealed, for can understand the stress that must have brought.
Britain has voted for Brexit which to my mind is so wrong; what those voters who wanted to exit probably have yet to learn. Is that there will not be clean break or a return to pre ECC conditions in Britain because
the EU will still serve to place conditions on the country. Just as it does on other european countries who have trade agreements and who pay the EU for that privilege!

I get the sense that Mrs May is a formidable chess player :-)

Oh, I've been AWAy for so long, and had to to catch up with all your adventures. Glad you are settling in.

Oh Eastbourne Hilary. Lucky you looking at that view each and every day. I'm a beach person and could 'sit and look out' as Walt Whitman says, but not 'at all the troubles of the world'...but wouldn't it be nice if we could help more to bring about some sort of peace in this world in turmoil...but hasn't it always been so?

I was riveted to CNN during the whole Brexit fallout. I've always been a Boris Johnson fan, but I wonder if even he wonders what he's done? I was sorry to see David Cameron fall on his sword (did he really have to?) but by the chippy way he say goodbye, he must have a cosy job lined up methinks! This new lady will have big boots to wear. I hope the Parliament pulls together.

Hopefully now Aussies and other Commonwealth citizens will once enjoy free entry to the UK as we did until UK joined the European Union. We all used to trot off to Britain all the time, but the doors slammed shut in our faces. I know Boris Johnson wanted to see more open doors for Australia and New Zealand. Who knows what Theresa May will decide?

Lovely to see you survived the journey...and have internet organised. Ann Best was waiting for you to rise again, I know.

Have a great new life in Eastbourne. (Sorry this is so long, but I'm a political animal and this whole situation with LEAVE has got me open mouthed with both awe and dread.

And to end on a happy note in this missive...I've been reading all I can on the Lakes District, preparing for a visit towards the end of the year or early 2017. Have only breezed through before. Now I want to linga longa...

Denise :-)

Used to be a great pub/restaurant at Beachy Head but I am talking over 40 years ago now. I remember Matt and I sitting there at lunch time trying all their different mousses. Delicious.

Glad the move is accomplished and sorry about unpacking. We have had similar without the move.

I was horrified about Brexit but hope things will eventually settle down.

Happy to hear your are settled comfortably. Beautiful views! We do have to set higher standards and encourage others to do the same. Best of success with your new PM. Stay safe.

Hilary Melton-Butcher said...

@ Suzanne - the view is quite extraordinary .. I can listen and can enjoy. Much happening here ... today is another day!

@ Mark - it is wonderful when the tide goes out and the reef is exposed ... and Pevensey Bay is a good place to sail .. this is the western end of the Bay ...

@ EC - thanks for coming over ... and yes the coast will never go away - but is always changing.

@ Annalisa - the views have helped as I keep listening to the news and as you say each brings a new situation into relief ... Boris is an interesting choice - let's hope he can curtail his quips?!

@ Truedessa - slowly settling ... the vista is wonderful to see and think about ... lots of inspiration I hope!

@ Anabel - yes fantastic is the word. The political shenanigans are turning out better than I'd expected right now .. but our PM is on her way to Scotland to see your first lady today ... Mrs May is being brave and courageous as she gets a grip ...

@ Joanne - thank you re the settling in - other challenges don't help - but I'll get there ... ok I shall keep posting similar pics ... I might even try the camera for a change!

Mrs May seems a formidable political animal and I'm sure she'll pull us through - but it will be interesting times ... I think the States will be supporting us ...

I have had too many breaks probably - but I've needed them to settle my nerves!

@ Mel - thanks so much - I appreciate your comment. The leak is an ongoing challenge I suspect ... and will sadly continue to blight ...

Brexit - I know ... so many didn't vote for that - they were just angry with the government ... but they've got what they wanted a 'new government' ... but Brexit has to be addressed ... those political leavers are being put to work ...

I wonder if Mrs May does play chess - probably ... and so I'm sure you're right there ... certainly she's made some swift moves.

@ Rosaria - thanks for checking back and now for being here once again.

Hilary Melton-Butcher said...

@ Denise - I've always lived in Eastbourne since I came back from South Africa - now I'm about as near the edge as I can be! I only moved about a mile ... and I'm sure I'll sit and ponder the affairs of the world as I look out - I gathered you were a beach person - wonderful area you live in.

Boris as Foreign Secretary could well be a brilliant choice - I just hope he keeps his quips down ... it has been interesting to be able to watch the developments. It'd be good to have closer ties with the Commonwealth, particularly Aus, NZ and Canada - I'm sure that will happen ...

Theresa May seems to be filling those big boots quite confidently at the moment ...

Being without the internet was a pain - still I had Wimbledon going on as well ... I'll catch up with Ann shortly ...

We're studying the Lakes District in our geology class for the U3A at the moment - today is the last class of that series ... then we move on to Life Sciences ...

The Lake District in winter - crumbs I hope you're ready for the cold, the wet and sometimes interrupted life due to train troubles, floods etc .. still it is stunningly beautiful up there ... we used to visit in my early life and I have very fond memories of Windermere and its surrounds ... Remember winter closures for some places - they shut up shop over those months ...

@ Jo - the 'pub' is still there - a tourist type one now ... despite being burnt down on occasions. It has stunning views ... though the food isn't that good now, or of that sort - satisfying, but nothing special - wish it was ...

You've been having a torrid time with your flat and those bugs ...

Brexit - is a shock ... as you say eventually things will sort themselves out ...

@ Gail - good to see you ... and the views are wonderful. Our PM seems to know what she's going to do ... and has head headed towards the goal ...

After the French attack yesterday - we really do need to pull ourselves together and somehow get guns, explosives, terrorism and bullies out of lives - peace needs to come into the world ...

Thanks for all your visits - cheers Hilary

Glad the move went well, Hilary; I've organised a few in a professional capacity - though not domestic moves, thank God! The views look stunning and it's certainly a lovely part of the world - the walk up Seven Sister is a personal favourite. Yes - interesting times aren't they?! I'm hoping Theresa May will bring some much needed calm - I wasn't surprised to see her in office sooner than seemed to be expected - and in fact the UK needed that - and I'm not surprised to see Boris back, either; but I was very surprised at the appointment. As you say, it could be a clever move. Yet another vile attack in France - still our neighbour and friend. So much tragedy.

I could watch those waves like television, what a lovely area to be part of. Don't worry about getting unpacked, it will always be there and you can get to it when you have the time. One move I found a unpacked box, three years later, and donated most of it's contents.

You have a stunning view! I'm glad the move in finally over and done and you can enjoy it! Sad how the state of politics has gotten all around the world isn't it? My heart breaks for France.

Botanist said...

I was surprised by the "Leave" vote, as I think were a lot of people. A lot of people grumble about the EU but it's a huge step to take to actually leave after all these years. Big changes ahead, that's for sure.

I hope you get everything sorted out soon after your move. You have a stunning view there.

I suspect the unpleasant political stuff has only just started, Hilary - really hope I'm wrong about that.

Hilary Melton-Butcher said...

@ Mike - yes I was a wee bit disorganised at the end ... stressed out re other things. The views are stunning - as is that stretch of chalk coast ... different from Cornish granite cliffs ...

Certainly Theresa May seems have her Brexit head on, as well as her governing head ... she's been clever at giving the Brexiters their work to get us out ... but I'm sure she'll be masterminding it very carefully ...

Boris has had to start off his Foreign Secretary career with the dreadful French massacre - especially as I understand many small children were involved - people ... how can they be so cruel.

@ Steve - yes me too - I've been watching the waves and ebb and flow across the reef ... this time I need to unpack as I need the space - and I'd like to find a few things that have not surfaced yet ... I didn't do too well at finishing off things from the last place - so plenty to do here! I really don't want to take it all with me!

@ Elsie - at least I have some solace from the stress when I look at the view. Politics is a murky business - as you so rightly say ...

I agree with you re France - terrible ... and so sad for those families ...

@ Karen - I'll try and do the nesting - though that direction isn't easy either ... but the views are stunning ...

@ Ian - I think many people voted Leave to register their dislike of government - not helpful when so many did so ... but we have now got interesting politics - and yes it is a huge step to take ...

the unpacking will continue - shunting stuff around to get the best set up will be done soonish I hope! The views help - that's for sure ...

@ Connie - thanks so much - the vistas are glorious ... and I too hope our new female Prime Minister will be successful - she seems to be heading in the right direction ...

@ Patsy - well I hope you're wrong there ... but the Labour Party are making a right mess of their things ...

I too hope we can drum some sense into people's heads re their actions and verbal abuse ...

Take care everyone - and all the best - Hilary

HI Hilary, great to see you back - and what a fabulous view - at least when we look out at the sea we can see Nature bringing calm with her. The world seems a very nasty and bleak place today - it has been a very unsettling few months and last night's carnage just beggars belief. How can someone do that!
You are so right that we all need to live by a higher standard - and keep spreading joy and love into the world. Otherwise the monsters have won.
I was very upset about Brexit too, but at least there's some stability now. I wish Theresa May a lot of luck and I wish you lots of happiness in your new home.

The Times they are a-changing, aren't they? And not for good. So much misery and now Turkey is kicking up a conflict as well. I can't believe how fractured France must feel, when around any corner - some nut-case can go berserk and cause innocents to die.
To change the subject - glad you moved, and the location is the kind I like, near the water, the larger, the better. Good luck getting settled! I also like to see a female in power. We'll have to wait for the USA to decide - a female (it would be a first for the US) or a misguided businessman.

Hilary Melton-Butcher said...

@ Fil - when the sea is calm and toddler waves splutter gently in and out ... it is gorgeous and very calming - I'm somewhat anxious about the storms - storms are ok, lashings of rain is another story ...

Carnage or having to resort to terrorism/hate tactics to achieve their aims ... is definitely very wrong ... Turkey now ...

I just hope we, the normal people around the world, can realise we're better off living in peace and encourage all to join us ... and spread the joy of life (a living life) as you mention ...

Brexit - it's an interesting time with stability - long may that reign ... thanks I'm sure I'll be happy here with the view ...

@ Susan - yes WOW - amazing views and they do make my heart sing ... I'm lucky there ...

Political life ahead for us here is hopeful - we need to get ourselves on track ...

@ Lynn - I'm going to enjoy my walk along the seafront to a talk I'm going to later on ...

@ Rhonda - thankfully the move went off fine - just rather more stuff than space - still I'm clearing the decks now, makes it easier! Let's hope we can get politics in some semblance of working together and improving our Brexit position ...

@ DG - the times are a-changing aren't they ... I hope we can pull ourselves back from the brink of complete (world) disaster ... Russia and China lingering in the background don't help ...

The location will certainly help - whatever the weather is doing to our tides ...

It's good to see a woman in charge - I wish her well ... at least she leads and doesn't bicker or give us sound bites ... yes you would have a first woman in power ...

Thanks so much to you all for welcoming me back ... enjoy your weekends ... cheers Hilary

I was also very disappointed when I saw the results. This referendum should never have taken place. People don't have all the same intelligence, the same education and they don't live the same life. It was just asking a primary school class "Do you want to have holdays, or go to school". Guess what would be the answer. I have no opinion yet about Teresa May. It's good that a woman is prime minister. That she was born in Eastbourne I didn't know.

Hilary Melton-Butcher said...

@ Gattina - the people chose ... at least the government is getting on with things ... the Opposition needs to get their act into gear. A clean sweep is what we've got ... the lady holding the broom seems to be independently minded ...

@ Mary - thanks ... it was and is traumatic ... but I find solace in the sea and views ...

@ Marja - well it was hot yesterday - but cooled off (the wind got up) ... the view is never the same ... the sea, the colours, the clouds, the boats, the horizon all are different each day ...

Certainly all peoples who wish to live in a civilised society with freedom ... means not hurting others in any way and respecting others' points of views ... I hope we can all 'up our game' in this respect ...

Brexit is interesting ... and I wonder how it will affect the EU - whether they will reform enough to keep the Union going, and work with us and other countries who are not members ...

Thanks for coming by and commenting - good to see you ... cheers Hilary

What a very beautiful view Hilary! For sure to warm the cockles of your heart! Excellent that it went well ... nothing like BT service. I'm glad to hear that you have a port of calm amid the stormy seas what with all going on the world. Theresa May sounds like Margaret Thatcher re-incarnated? Well, not really, but she is decisive, forthright, strong.

walk2write said...

I'm glad your move was uneventful. It looks like you have a delightful place to unwind and reflect on things. A garden and a seaside are my two favorite places to do just that. If I can't have one of those here in Illinois, at least I will have the other. Yes, the political scene gives us much to ponder. It's good to pay attention but also to step back from it once in a while and listen to the wind and the waves.

Hilary Melton-Butcher said...

@ Susan - yes the situation is wonderful and waking up to that view for the day as it changes is just brilliant. Thankfully BT got done - makes life easier for connecting with everyone ...

I don't think Theresa May will be another Margaret Thatcher ... she's too aware of her roots and is humbler - Mrs T got carried away with power - albeit I wasn't here ... I was with you - before I started blogging ...

Mrs M certainly seems to be decisive, strong and forthright ... it will be an interesting time ...

@ W2W - many thanks ... I certainly need a place to unwind and get on with things in my own way. I'd love to have that garden too ... but sometimes we can only have one thing - for now that is the sea and sky.

Politics is getting us all involved at the moment - the Referendum vote was a fascinating thing to be a part of - serious historical decision that probably won't occur for another thousand years ... it has certainly shaken us up.

Thanks so much to you both ... we all have votes to make ... in South Africa too ... I hope ours are done til 2020 - and by then much will have successfully occurred ... America's choices ... cheers Hilary

Hilary Melton-Butcher said...

@ Inger – yes I’m glad I’m in … not settled, but I hope it will all work out. Bully politics is abounding … but it doesn’t set a good standard …. and sadly some small parts of the public follow on – as they have no-one to look up to, or to take their cue from …

@ Susan – just about all done … not quite! I remember you say you were moving in a short time now – good luck …

These killings are so sad – so unnecessary … we (here in the UK) had two family dispute deaths yesterday (six dead) … I just hope that people can be brought to their senses and not kill for killing’s sake – doesn’t help anyone …

@ Damyanti – I know … I am lucky with the view!! Jealously becomes you!!

@ Nila – the movement of the sea is ever changing and so worth looking at. I hope this country can get its head sorted and we are allowed to exit the EU quietly, efficiently and without too much negativity or negative outcomes …

I think we need to remember … HOPE … for all peoples now – as you so rightly mention …

Thanks for visiting … always good to see you – cheers Hilary

I'm glad you survived the move, and what beautiful views! It's been a crazy couple months in the world, eh? I understand the vote and why it went the way it did. The rest of Europe is going to have fun keeping their heads above water, but in the spirit of good old American independence, part of me wants to say, "Good for you, Britain." (Maybe that's the wrong attitude. I may be jaded.)

Jeffrey Scott said...

Sorry it's taken me awhile to get over here. I have to say, I was kind of surprised by the vote. Though, to be honest, I was not very certain what all the reasoning behind Brexit was. Unfortunately, here in the states we are never given much info. I have to get my intel from listening to the Beeb online. My final though was it revolved around England wanted to control it's own borders without EU intervention. But I'm sure more was involved. Again, perhaps it wasn't such a shocking vote. After all, England was the only EU member with it's own currency. Am I correct in this?
Hope you are all settled. Wow, I love your view.

Hilary Melton-Butcher said...

Hi Crystal - I'm in the flat and that's the main thing ... the world is in a terrible state. In choosing Theresa May to be Prime Minister - we seem to have selected a great steadier of the ship - there is no Opposition to consider - Labour are in a terrible state.

Thankfully ... I hope all will come to their senses and be sensible about our country's decision - though frankly people in responsible positions shouldn't be part of a slanging match or participate in one. Let's hope all will be well for our little country ...

@ Jeffrey - no worries ... many were surprised by the vote - and many didn't vote intelligently ... in other words they had no idea what they voted for ... they thought you can just push a switch and we're out (then get more money, more jobs, etc etc) ... without taking into account any of the rules and regulations, trade deals etc etc .. that will need to be re-written etc ...

Immigration was a big challenge (but not understood - as people's status varied) ... essentially it is to get us out of the European Union ... but there's so many variants that need to be considered ...

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/uk-migration-six-myths-about-immigration-debunked-as-latest-figures-show-fall-in-non-eu-arrivals-a6895341.html

The Prime Minister today has said they will get the numbers down ...

I came across this post ... which may help a little ...

http://www.euractiv.com/section/euro-finance/opinion/decision-making-and-disarray-in-the-eu/

The EU should have reformed in recent years and then we wouldn't have left - but as our female Prime Minister - rightly says ... Brexit won and therefore that what's we as a country shall do ... it's going to cost a lot changing everything ... but let's hope we get some sensible leaders to 'talk' to (negotiate with) to get the necessary changes through ...

Article 50 is the 'switch' ... and once that's done - then we have two years to finalise everything ... but Article 50 is in the future at the moment ...

All I can say is thank goodness we have government, who understands the ramifications ...

It's interesting that Theresa May, our new Prime Minister, has put all the Brexit MPs in charge of the Brexit parliamentary offices ...

Yes we do have differences to the EU ... but other countries hold different policies too ... and we are not attached to the mainland ... but what happens re Gibraltar, Malta, Ireland and Northern Ireland and Scotland ... interesting times ahead ... let alone all our nationals overseas in Europe, or European nationals here ...

I'm not sure if this has answered your queries sufficiently - we (you) need a degree!

Cheers to you both - thanks for your thoughts - it's interesting, but quite difficult to explain - even if I'm opposite that view! Hilary

Sorry everyone .. who comes by to look ... the Decision Making and Disarray post is quite complicated ... I hadn't read it through?! Just saw that some of it made sense to me ... and explained the decision making process a little ... cheers H

I would agree on all of us needing to set higher standards for ourselves. While we are not joining or leaving the EU, US politics is trash right now as well...and with many of the same symptoms. Ridiculous.

Sounds like you went through a move. I have been through far too many...here is hoping that things settle down for you in the near future.

Thanks for popping over.

You're on a new adventure, Hilary. Bravo. Can't wait to hear how it all feels. I'm excited for you. As for the changes going on politically, I hope everything works out. I've always believed things happen for a reason. I hope I'm not wrong this time.

Cheers.

@ Jeffrey - I hope it enlightens somewhat ... here's another from yesterday:

http://www.euractiv.com/section/uk-europe/news/merkel-grants-may-until-new-year-to-trigger-article-50/

@ Brian - good to see you again after your trip to India and teaching there .. it sounds an amazing experience ...

Politics and the populace - we should be selecting good leaders, who understand politics ... but the area gets very muddy - when Politicians and their experts lead with sound bites - not helpful. No-one listens any more ...

Yes moving is a bit much ... I'd like to settle permanently sometime soon!

@ Joylene - yes the 'new' is ahead of me - but I must now get to it. I too sincerely hope it all works out for us politically ... and that Europe becomes more flexible with its life. Happening for a reason - could be a good thing ... I too tend to think that way ...

@ Nas - thanks so much ... my adventure - well we'll see ..

Cheers to you all - Hilary

BREXIT ... TED Talk:

I thought you might be interested in this TED talk ... I didn't know Alexander Betts ...

Alexander Betts is Professor of Forced Migration and International Affairs, the Director of the Refugee Studies Centre at the University of Oxford, and a Fellow of Green-Templeton College.

http://www.ted.com/talks/alexander_betts_why_brexit_happened_and_what_to_do_next ...

"We are embarrassingly unaware of how divided our societies are, and Brexit grew out of a deep, unexamined divide between those that fear globalization and those that embrace it, says social scientist Alexander Betts. How do we now address that fear as well as growing disillusionment with the political establishment, while refusing to give in to xenophobia and nationalism? Join Betts as he discusses four post-Brexit steps toward a more inclusive world."

I've been late getting to this ... but having listened to it - some of you might find it interesting ... cheers Hilary

Thanks for sharing the link, very informative.
As an FYI, you posted three dots after the link so it didn't open for me. I had to go in and remove the dots so the link would open.
Cheers!

What a beautiful place you live, Hilary!!

Such another interesting post! I didn't pay attention to Brexit until the day of . . . I am still not informed enough to pick a side. I see both sides.

Ok, glad you survived the move. One of life's more stressful events.

Cheers, Denise

@ Denise - thanks for commenting here ... yes the view is incredible. Brexit is a challenge for the country ... and it's too late now - it'd be better if we concentrated on moving forward and not thinking of other things - it'll weaken too much. The move was eventually fine - as you say a stressful event - so good to see you - cheers Hilary
